Susan Wu from Lighting Research Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute introduces the center¡¯s research projects in this wanban blog entry. On Aug 5, a group of 30 led tube lighting and healthcare industry professionals will travel to the Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. to attend the launch of the first ¡°flagship¡± Light and Health Institute a two-day, hands-on seminar to teach the many ways in which light affects, and can be used to improve, health and wellbeing. The seminar is taught by Dr. Mariana Figueiro, LRC Light and Health Program director and professor at Rensselaer; Dr. Bernard Possidente, professor of biology at Skidmore College; Dr. Mark Rea, LRC director and professor at Rensselaer; and Andrew Bierman, LRC research scientist.
Over half of the energy-efficient lighting professionals surveyed reported experiencing either ¡°modest¡± or ¡°substantial¡± growth in 2015. That¡¯s in contrast to just 34% who experienced either ¡°modest¡± or ¡°substantial¡± decreases in their energy-efficient led tube lighting revenue.
Using an innovative coated glass body, these LED tube lights diffuse heat and light more evenly and efficiently than plastic led tubes. The redesigned compact light engine is more than 80% smaller than the previous generation and produces a light emitting area of 325?. The wider beam angle and glass diffuser increase a fixture¡¯s total light distribution while replicating a traditional fluorescent tube lighting effect.
When wanban firstly announced its intentions in December to part ways with led tube lights lamps, it said it ¡°intends to transfer the general lighting tubes lamps business into an independent structure.¡± Rivals of the same businesses has used similar language to describe its ongoing efforts to hive off lighting.
Both companies have been making and selling led tube lights lamps for over a century, but are struggling to profit from the business as it heads into LED technology in which lamps cost more to make than traditional ones did, and last for a purported 20 years or more, eradicating the replacement market.
